I Uncovered Some Money Saving Vacation Ideas Recently!

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 | Great Sites

Even though the economy is bad, we still need a little vacation now and then. I spent some time doing research to see if I can arrange a nice trip while saving money in the process. Based on my time spent on several travel sites, it seems that the major online websites all can find good travel deals if I can be a little flexible.

The choice of travel website should not only include finding the lowest price for car, hotel and air travel, you also want a company with a reputation for arranging a vacation without problems.  I can look for the best prices on airfare and hotel rooms, but if I find a travel destination where I can drive my own car, it might save me even more. Southern California certainly fits that description.

One website I found with some great information on Southern California is the SoCal Vacation Guru site.  It presently places most of its attention on Los Angeles and Orange County, with a modest but growing emphasis on San Diego County and San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. You will find a great deal of local wisdom and information on Universal Studios from the SoCal Vacation Guru, as well as insight about beaches, Disneyland and other attractions.

Did you know that there are actually seven world-class theme parks in the area, those being Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags, Universal Studios Hollywood, Legoland, SeaWorld and Disney’s California Adventure. Of course visiting all of those would not be particularly cheap, but you could fit a lot of vacation fun into a short period of time. Also, you might save on airfare and hotel reservations as it looks like the economy has a lot of hotels really wanting our business, unfortunately.

Theme parks are offering some discounts, and the prices might be a bit lower at museums and other activities as well. Rather than flying to your vacation destination, you may find that, even with the crazy behavior of gasoline prices recently, you can save money by driving to Southern California this year.
