Chiller Evaporators

The chillers evaporator is a heat exchanger that transfers heat from a process or air conditioning water circuit to the chillers cooler liquid refrigerant. Most air cooled chillers in the UK chiller hire market will be fitted with a shell and tube evaporator, a plate heat exchanger evaporator or a coil in tank evaporator. A shell and tube evaporator is used primarily on chilled water applications. When a chiller is fitted with this type of evaporator the chillers cool liquid refrigerant flows through tubes encased in a shell.
The process or air conditioning circuit water fills the shell flowing around the tubes. As heat is transferred from the water to the chillers refrigerant the gas boils inside the tubes and the resulting vapour is drawn into the chillers compressor.
Hot water will enter the shell at one end, chilled water leaving at the opposite end.
A Plate heat exchanger evaporator can be used for chilled water or fluid cooling applications. Stainless steel evaporators are especially suited in food and beverage applications such as batch cooling or potable water systems.
A coil in tank evaporator comprises a coil block, usually copper, with aluminium fins to provide an efficient heat transfer surface. The coil block is then submerged in a chilled water tank which acts as a thermal buffer for the refrigeration system. This type of coil is suited to hire chillers used on process cooling applications, typically reactor cooling systems in chemical cooling, petrochemical cooling & pharmaceutical cooling systems.
Air Cooled Chiller Condensers
The condenser is a major component of a water chiller. The condenser is a heat exchanger that rejects heat from the chillers refrigerant to air. Some chillers are water cooled. A Water cooled chiller gives up its heat into relatively cool water from a cooling tower, air-blast cooler or adiabatic cooler. A typical air cooled condenser fitted to an air cooled water chiller will use axial fans (propeller type) to draw outdoor air over a finned tube heat transfer surface (heat exchanger).
The temperature difference or “delta T” between the hot refrigerant gas that is flowing through the condenser and the cooler outdoor air induces heat transfer. The heat reduction of the chillers refrigerant vapour causes it to condense into liquid. The last part of the chiller condenser is called a sub-cooler. The chiller sub-cooler reduces the liquid gas temperature still further, under its condensing temperature. The air cooled chiller is best suited to chiller hire applications. Chiller hire projects require systems to be delivered and installed quickly with the minimum of fuss.

Southern California Theme Parks With Great Roller Coasters

I’ve come to realize that, if you are a roller coaster lover, Southern California is the place to visit. In particular, Orange County and Los Angeles County are home to two of the best theme parks for thrill rides. No, Disneyland is not one of them, although it (and its adjacent sister park Disney’s California Adventure) does offer some exciting action rides worthy of a visit.
I’m talking about Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain (aka Magic Mountain to the locals). According to the SoCal Vacation Guru website, these parks have made roller coasters a strong priority in competing against The Mouse.
Magic Mountain is crazy with wild coasters; the place is lousy with thrill rides. Check out the SoCal Vacation Guru for more information about the park, as there’s lots more to do there besides roller coasters (for the rest of your group who may not be coaster fanatics).
Knott’s Berry Farm also has really focused on thrill rides, although they offer Camp Snoopy, Ghost Town and many other fun attractions and themed areas within the park. My daughter worked on the new Silver Bullet ride and she says that is one of several coasters that will really help you lose your dinner.
Speaking of dinner, if you go to Knott’s, don’t forget to allow time to eat at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. It is a landmark, serving thousands of dinners weekly since the Great Depression years. There is also good information at the SoCal Vacation Guru on Knott’s Berry Farm. You can find out about nearby hotels, and also about the many other vacation opportunities in Southern California.

Lenora’s Water Colors in England

Lenora’s Water Colors in England UK seem to be a bit of a secret on the Internet, because as expected.. the term “Water colors” or “Water Colours Prints” entered into Google gives a huge 34 million search results.
The lovely Lenora (known as Ella to her friends) is a dog walking friend of my girlfriend - who has been sharing their adventures with me after being out across the countryside surrounding the village where we live. Ukranian born and married to a fine Englishman, I regularly get told of the confusions in accents and words and giggles that they get up to whilst chatting away and sharing their lives with each other during their walking sessions.
During working through my programming difficulties surrounding the latest development for a paintballing new website client of mine. In comes Angie and shares the news that Ella has a mini exhibition at a sweet village called Alford over the Easter weekend. Followed by asking me to pull up the website Lenoraswatercolors.com to see the little dog called ‘Dolly’ painted by Ella and the very Yorkshire Terrier which accompanies our Parsons Terrier on their zany adventures along the tracks, farmers fields and around the lake.
Having seen the cute little ‘Dolly’ we spent 10 minutes viewing other fine paintings by Ella of the countryside, specifically views from The Lake District - one of her favourite places in England. Other great paintings were of a Tiger, Elephants, a beautiful Stag, some lovely architecture, a lighthouse, forests and various cats !!! Altogther a great collection showing the skills our friend Ella has in painting water colors, and the prints are certainly worthy of their small asking price. Maybe I will commission her to paint a few originals once my house conversion is complete !
I’m also thinking that maybe my business partner in Holiday rentals franchises might find Ellas skills suitable for mediteranean sea scapes and the lovely buildings scattered everywhere. Mijas - here we come !
